What is Ash dieback disease?
Ash Dieback is a disease caused by a fungus which dramatically affects the vascular system of ash trees. The disease spreads quickly and can affect or kill ash trees which will have a massive effect on the landscape.
Ash Dieback disease stifles the vascular system of the ash tree preventing it from drawing nutrients into the upper parts of the tree. The younger ash trees are killed very quickly by the disease. The Ash tree is one of the most common trees in Britain estimated at over 80 million only exceeded by the Oak and Birch.
